Every once a year, Kenyatta High School competes with other schools in Kenya during the Kenya Schools and Colleges Drama Festivals.
Over the years, we have represented the Taita Region at the provincial festivals. Our school plays have done well at the province winning among other accolades:
The best scripted play 2008
The most original play 2008
Best play in English 2009
For two years in a row now, our school has represented the coast province at the national Drama festivals with narratives.
Both narratives, Ipasi (The school bus, 2009) and Obwoba (The Mushrooms, 2010), were performed by two main narrators- Johnathan Kazungu and Victor Kaula, assisted by a cast of twelve others.
We have recently launched a club to carry on with drama activities in between the festivals and create a stable talent base. We also hold a yearly Cultural Day, a drama inter-house competition which is scheduled for the 1st October this year.
The desk is under the patronage of Mr. Waiganjo Ndirangu and Mr. Kikuvi Henry and enjoys the productive support of veteran director, Mr. Keya Omurunga.
